The Focus of Prophecy

It is finished. ~ John 19:30

The Focus of ProphecyI read a lot of books. After I finish each one, I close the book and look at the cover. Then I undoubtedly say something like “All done” or “It’s about time” or “Finally.” Sometimes I take pride in the very small accomplishment, but what I am really doing is pointing out in my mind that “it is finished.”

As an author of books, short stories, poems, and even blog posts – I take a different route. As I develop my story or format, I have to think in terms of beginning, middle and end. Along the way, I must consider what will be focal points, the right words to choose, and – very importantly – I must think about the message it sends.

It really is a painstaking process – but one I enjoy. There are so many other elements that I won’t even detail here. Then, factor in externalities like trying to balance a family life, a full-time job, a passion for television and movies and a myriad of other commitments.

After I finish what I write, I have to edit. Sometimes there is more edits than others, but the point is that I get to go back and edit what I have done in hopes of making it perfect . . . well, as close to it as possible anywho.

Considering all this, now imagine trying to create a fully-formed universe that is complete with beginning, middle and end as well as a plan for everyone and everything in existence. Imagine trying to do that in one shot – no editing.

It truly is amazing when you stop and think about it.

Today, my prayer for you and I is that we will consider the great prophecy that was fulfilled through Christ’s works.
